Women’s rights and peace advocate Alice Aruhe’eta Pollard was born on the island of Tawaihuro and attended the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. In 1988 she became the head of the Solomon Islands’ Women's Division. In this series of essays she paints a picture of these remote islands as they undergo massive social and cultural change.
