This anthology, compiled by the Hay Festival of Literature and Arts, includes an extract from Costa Rican author Carlos Fonseca’s yet-to-be-translated book The Southward March. In this short story set in the jungle, the tourists are the ones under observation: “The whole time, the jungle has done nothing but contradict their expectations. Where they supposed they’d find naked natives, instead there are men wearing rock band T-shirts”.
